Defines the rate class that your belong to (e.g. Residential Conservation Rate 1101) which is used to determine the price you pay for electricity, the date range of the current billing period (e.g. Dec 20, 2019 to Feb 20, 2020), and the quantity of electricity consumed (e.g. 3,014kWh).
An interconnection charge to be connected to the BC Hydro system that is based upon the number of days in the billing period (not the amount of electricity you consume).
The cost of the electricity consumed in the billing period across two pricing steps. Step 1 has a lower price for electricity and covers energy consumed up to the first threshold (e.g. up to the first 1,398kWh in the billing period). Step 2 has a higher price for electricity for all energy consumed above the specified threshold. The two step approach to pricing recognizes that British Columbians have paid for BC Hydro’s key legacy assets such as its large dam infrastructure, and also encourages consumers to conserve electricity when they hit the Step 2 threshold.
A charge to support BC Hydro customers that face disconnection but are experiencing a temporary financial crisis, such as a loss of employment, unanticipated medical expenses, or a death in the family. For more information please see BC Hydro’s website.
